Who We Are
PTA began in 1897 with a mission to better the lives of all children. PTA is a National Association that has over 5 million members with units in all states. PTA believes that every child deserves excellence in education and in quality of life, and advocates for the well-being of all children and youth. PTA is a not for profit group that operates exclusively for educational and charitable purposes.
The West Irondequoit Central PTSA is a unit of New York State PTA. We are a Central PTSA, which means you only join once -- there is no need to join at each child’s school. This allows us to contribute to the whole district as well as each of the ten individual schools. We have an Executive Committee and Chairs at the district level, and then Building Representatives and Committee Chairs in each building.
Research consistently shows that when parents are involved in their children’s education, the children are more likely to have better grades, score higher on tests, have better social skills, and have a more positive attitude towards school. The WICPTSA offers many opportunities for you to become involved!
